Prominent local poets Tyler Armstrong of Amagansett and Claude Mayers of Southampton will share the stage at The Barn on Route 27 in Watermill at Mr. Mayers’ Annual 2019 Hamptons Poetry Reading on Saturday at 7:30 PM September 14th . Many members of the Hamptons poetry community are familiar with these two writers who both have frequently hosted readings on the East End.  Admission will be free; wine and cheese will be served. RSVPs are appreciated.

Mr. Mayers is notably a lifelong surfer, political observer, world traveller, health professional, music aficionado. Some of the very recent poems he will be  featuring are entitled: ‘Dolphins In The Water,’ ‘Whatever The Prophet Answers,’ ‘Can I Lie Like The President?’ ‘Driving Up Into The Mountains,’ ‘Sunday In The City,’ ‘Bolsonaro.’ Plus he will respond to audience requests for specific poems or topics, tapping some of the thousands of works he has composed over the past several decades.

Note that Mr. Mayers will likely also source his two most recent books: ‘”Believe Me,” Trump Poems Volume 1’ and ‘Vault Of Poems’ during the evening.

Mr. Armstrong is versed in ecology and creative writing, constantly seeking to reconcile the worlds of imagination and nature. His work charts an abstractly adorned path through age-old philosophical puzzles and modern struggles.  His poetic offerings shall include ‘Language of the Wind,’ ‘Side By Side In Sleep,’ ‘Rerise,’ and ‘Homus Ex Machina.’

The Barn is a new art gallery located a few stores to the west of the Watermill Post Office on Route 27. The current five artist show displays recent art works by Jeff Muhs of Southampton, plus Tatyana Murray, Omar Chacon, Christina Kruse, and James Greco. The Barn is produced and curated by Kathy Murphy.
